WHAT WE DO
ADVOCACY
IAD actively represents the Deaf community in policymaking to ensure equal rights and accessibility in education, employment, and public services. This includes campaigns advocating for closed captioning in public spaces and the implementation of Deaf-friendly policies statewide.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
We provide workshops on topics like self-advocacy, Deaf culture, and accessibility rights, alongside a comprehensive resource directory connecting members with interpreters, accessibility services, and community support.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We host conferences, cultural celebrations, and networking events that foster a sense of belonging within the Deaf community. We also maintain an active online presence to connect members and provide virtual resources.

INDY DEAF NEWS 500
Our twice-weekly newsletter keeps the community informed about the latest news, events, and developments impacting the Deaf community in Indiana. IDN500 serves as a vital platform for sharing updates, resources, and opportunities for engagement.

DEAF CULTURE & ASL
IAD celebrates Deaf heritage through cultural events, performances, and ASL storytelling, while advocating for ASL as an integral part of Deaf identity and bilingual education efforts.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We provide training for professionals, educating them about accessibility and Deaf culture, while also creating networking opportunities for Deaf professionals, students, and allies to collaborate and develop leadership skills within the community.
