THE RISE OF AGBELL POWER
First they came for the Nebraska School for the Deaf,
and I didn’t take a stand because I wasn’t a Nebraskan.
Then they came for the New Hampshire School for the Deaf,
and I didn’t take a stand because I don’t know any New Hampshirites.
Then they came for the South Dakota School for the Deaf,
and I didn’t take a stand because I am not from South Dakota.
Then they came for Utah School for the Deaf,
and I didn’t take a stand because I wasn’t born in Utah.
Then they came for the Indiana School for the Deaf,
and I didn’t take a stand because I did not grow up in Indiana.
Then they came for Gallaudet University, NTID, and, finally, CSUN,
and I didn’t take a stand because I did not attend those universities.
Then they came for DEAF PEOPLE,
and there’d be not be anyone left who cares about me to take a stand.

statement “First they came”
