Highlights from IAD’s Regular Board Meeting on June 12th

Indiana Association of the Deaf board met at ISD’s multipurpose room last Saturday, June 12th from 1 pm to 5:45 pm. Almost all board members showed up with two excused absences.

In the meeting, we covered a wide variety of issues. We had a guest presenter from Indianapolis Museum of Art, Linda Duke. She talked to us about starting an ASL docent (tour guide) program with interested members of the Deaf community. Aileen Vasquez will be our point of contact for this.

IAD Conference last March realized over $2,200 in profit. A first in quite a while. Hats off to Aileen Vasquez and Norman Wilson and their committee! Next year conference will be held on ISD campus — pending their approval — on July 29-30, 2011, and this event will be chaired by Michael Reis and Charleen Sculley, our vice president.

IAD has resumed weekly publication of Indy Deaf News using MailChimp.com service with Bea Pfaff and her committee as our interim editor.

IAD will host New Year’s Eve party at Auto Vault — an AWESOME place in downtown Indianapolis — and more information will be coming. Andy Leffler and Juliet Maucere will be co-chairing this amazing event. Limited tickets so DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!

Adhoc joint taskforce between IAD and Indiana Chapter of Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (ICRID) will be formed to pursue Interpreter License and Funding bill, and selected people will be contacted shortly for the first meeting.
